Against the odds the remaining teams Teams SA and TAS had their work cut out for them in the garden makeover round of the House Rules competition, with Tropical Cyclone Debbie relentlessly lashing the entire Gold Coast, forcing the renovation of Aaron and Daniella’s QLD exterior to cease work.

The teams battened down against the possibility of storm damage, ultimately returning to site to push through and produce a stunning garden transformation, front and back.

Kate and Harry took on the front of Gold Coast couple Aaron and Daniella’s home, creating a striking entrance to meet the House Rule, “Go OTT with GC style”. With Endurastone pavers set in gravel meet a decking platform leading right to the front door.

Kate and Harry added stylish street appeal and functionality with a security gate, Scally car port and new fencing.

“Mysterious Girl” framed artwork from Matt Blatt positioned in the covered area by the front door answered the OTT entrance rule from Aaron and Daniella.

Pavers serve as stepping stones, set in gravel providing symmetry and leading to the decked platform. Tropical planting either side of the walkway, punctuated by potted cordylines set the tone for Aaron and Daniella’s “tropical resort garden” on arrival.

Tropical plantings of strelizia, heliconia and cordyline from Bamboo Down Under border the walkway to the entrance, with bamboo screening the carport side to delineate the space. More Endurastone pavers add a formal touch.

In the back yard Tasmanian team, Sean and Ella created a relaxation zone with resort styling. A crisp white cane sofa and armchairs form a cosy area to chat and watch kids in the pool and at play. The striking stone water feature backed by bamboo screen and continues the tropical theme.

Large Strelitzia Nicolai plants blow in the breeze and form a perimeter, peppered with bright crimson Cordyline to provide a splash of holiday colour.

Sir Walter turf from local Jimboomba Turf Group links the spaces from swimming to seating, broken by Endurastone paver stepping stones and providing ample space for Aaron and Daniela’s boys to play freely.
