You can now buy gins named after Australia cities

Choose from Adelaide, Brisbane, Perth and Sydney

Following the successful launch of their first spirit, Adelaide Gin, in March this year, The Australian Distilling Co. have created three artisan small batch gins to reflect the spirit of Sydney, Brisbane and Perth.

Michael Hickinbotham, who is a second-generation distiller in a family that cultivated Australia’s wine and fortified spirits industry, enjoyed developing these beautiful new spirits alongside Master Distiller, Dr Graham Jones, who was also the mastermind behind the highly awarded Adelaide Gin.

“We are so proud to expand our family of gins and to release three more beautiful namesake gins that encapsulate the feel of these three well-loved Australian cities,” says Michael.

“Like Adelaide Gin, we wanted to create something special, that captures what each of these cities is all about and that is made just for them. Everything, right down to the bottle, has been made with each city in mind.”

For Adelaide Gin, $75, delicate hints of rose, lemon myrtle and Kangaroo Island lavender come out to play in a spirited blend of local botanicals that capture both the history and modernity of a beautiful city.

Inspired by the city’s charm, Brisbane Gin, $75, is quintessentially Brisbane, with its fresh citrus flavours and sun-kissed pink, maroon and gold label embodying the youthfulness and playful nature of the River City. The flavours are bright and bold thanks to the kaffir lime and finger lime, and warm and welcoming with hints of fresh ginger. You can almost taste the ray of sunshine in every sip.

The aromatics in Sydney Gin, $75, are designed to be distinctly Sydney, and include lemon rind, lime zest and orange peel. An alluring city, Sydney has beautiful art deco architecture, which is captured in the glamorous label design, incorporating the arc of the Sydney Harbour Bridge with a touch of 1920’s glamour.

Perth Gin’s, $75, hero botanical is warming boronia, which is paired with lemon myrtle that lingers on the palate, leaving a crisp finish. The gold of the label references Perth’s gold rush beginnings and everlasting sunshine, while the blue nods to the city’s clear blue skies and beloved ocean.

Despite being introduced only this month, each product is already stocked in a number of local bars and restaurants in each city. Gin lovers can also head to website for each gin, Adelaide, Sydney, Perth and Brisbane, to order a bottle of their own and find a stockist in their city.
