Decorating the table for Christmas is an art, whether you create a simple DIY centrepiece, or set the scene using seasonal foliage. So it’s a shame that it all needs to be packed up and set aside when Christmas lunch and dinner is served.
Luckily, there’s a product from Kmart that will make this tedious exercise a thing of the past. Sophie Foot, a member of the Kmart Mums Australia Facebook Group shared that a $9 chrome extendable shelf is her go-to for keeping both decorations and food on the table at the same time.
While it’s no longer available, the $5.50 Mesh Large Shelf is a good alternative.
Members of the group shared their experiences using the racks, confirming they are sturdy enough to hold heavy items such as a glazed ham, rose and vanilla zabaglione trifle, or a classic roast turkey.
While the Kmart shelf certainly does the job, some may find its utilitarian design and chrome finish doesn’t quite gel with their chosen festive aesthetic. That’s where alternative expandable shelving products or raised serving boards come in handy.
