Living room
In the course of the renovation of the cottage, which dates from the 1800s, a new extension was added, housing the living area, kitchen and dining zone. A sizeable wool rug from Carpet Call delineates the living room. Rattan tub chairs from Dare Gallery join a hessian stool and comfy linen sofa, both from Schots Home Emporium. The fabric pendants were found at Period Details.
Decorative touches
Eye-catching vignettes of antique finds are artfully displayed on the ‘Obernai’ timber library cabinet from Provincial Home Living, adding character and charm to the new extension
Kitchen
In the kitchen, a Bianco Gioia marble-topped island bench acts as an informal eating area, prep zone and storage unit. Traditional cabinetry by Wattle Valley Kitchens is finished in Dulux Fair Bianca three quarters, while glass tiles from Walkers in a shade of oyster wrap around the room, adding texture and sparkle.
Hallway
Tall ceilings are a characteristic of 19th-century homes and are the perfect space to show off a beautiful chandelier – or two! For added heritage appeal, the hallways were lined with pressed metal panels.
Main bedroom
Walls painted in Dulux Fair Bianca are teamed with pale caramel carpeted floors in the serene main bedroom. A chandelier from Schots Home Emporium, an upholstered bed and blue ticking pillowcases, both from Provincial Home Living, all lend a French influence, while an antique dressmaker’s mannequin adds a vintage flourish.
Children’s room
The children’s bedroom is accessorised with pretty floral bedlinen from Holy Sheet and a playful paper lantern from Vivid Room. The wrought-iron beds were picked up on Ebay and given a handpainted finish.
Bathroom
The spacious bathroom comes complete with a traditional claw-foot bath from Richmond Second Hand Building Materials, with luxurious marble countertops, elegant wood-panelled joinery and a delicate chandelier from Mirabella adding to the spa-like ambience.
Sink sensations
Twin butler-style basins from Builders Renovators Warehouse are teamed with Bastow taps and ornate silver framed mirrors from Print Decor. A white timber towel ladder from Recollections is a stylish alternative to a standard rail.
Laundry
Beautiful panelled cabinetry carries the heritage feel of the home through to even the most functional spaces.
