This week on House Rules, Kate and Harry’s South Australian home received a garden makeover. Sean and Ella completed the front while twins Andrew and Jono took on the back.
Large bi-fold doors open out from the living space leading to an indoor-outdoor entertaining area. A picnic-style table from The Outdoor Furniture Specialists (TOFS), sits in the centre of the space, perfect for casual dinners with friends and family.
Andrew and Jono designed the backyard to be both, functional and gorgeous. Behind the outdoor eating area lies a comfy entertaining space complete with a three-seater sofa by TOFS. The tropical looking Matt Blatt Pepper Wire lounge chair creates a cosy corner to congregate.
The stone feature wall, by Stone Unlimited, is an elegant choice for the back wall and also meets Kate and Harry’s rule about using stone. The freestanding firepit from Early Settler, warms the open space.
Bamboo sticks section off the tribal-inspired play space from the entertaining space. The sandpit bottom is perfect for Kate and Harry’s son Xavier to play in. Andrew and Jono put their creative skills to the test by making the totem pole and teepee themselves.
Curb appeal is created with slate-coloured bricks laid in a herringbone pattern and a calming grey and white palette with punches of greenery. A timber frame leads guests down the side of the home to either the front door or a hidden retreat.
The casual entertaining space below is tucked away behind the fence. White pebbles create a stark contrast against the dark feature wall and greenery. Long wooden benches draped with throws, rugs and cushions surround the AMES fire pit. The bright rug in the back, the blush cushions and the Salu side table are from Early Settler.
Adorned with cushions and a soft, thick throw, both by Oscar and Willow, the cocoon hanging pod by TOFS creates a cosy haven to sink into. Terrazzo pots from AMES (try Bunnings) are filled with flowering plants like the Peace Lily and Cyclamen.
