The teams are beginning to plan ahead to make the most of every inch of their zones.
Josh and Brandon’s home in Maryborough is a compact space, perfectly suited to the two brothers. During the reno, the contestants found some great ways to make the most of the small footprint:
Open shelving in the kitchen
Wendy Moore loved the clever solution to an awkward space – between the window and the rangehood in the kitchen – with the creation of open shelving. Cupboards would have been impractical, she says, as they would have encroached on the window. “You couldn’t have had all the cabinetry running along, so I felt like the shelving at the end was a really nice resolution of hiding that narrow space,” she says. “Then it felt quite good to have that rangehood over the top, and there is storage in there as well. I thought that was a really good solution.”
A TV mixed in with a wall of art
John and Brandon’s home boasts one of the most talked-about releases in televisions. The new Samsung Frame TV mimics framed art and blends into the wall of artworks in the living room. A clever piece of gadgetry and ideal for two young men, who love their telly.
A window seat in the bedroom
The joinery in Brandon’s new bedroom includes both a window seat and niches to display candles and decorative items. By framing the window, judge Wendy Moore said it was a great use of space and made the room’s design feel “quite established”.
