We’ve all heard of couples who start to look like each other after decades of married life. We notice with glee anytime an owner starts to resemble their pet.
Here at Home Beautiful, we’ve noticed a different twinning trend… introducing: pets who match the interiors of their home. Whether coincidental, intentional, or simply inexplicable, these pets have serious style.
16 pets who match their home interiors

01
Thelma the Aussiedoodle
As fluffy as the abundant greenery surrounding her
A cross between an Australian Shepherd and a Poodle, Aussiedoodles have a beautiful curly coat of fur. Thelma, the beloved pet of Prudence and Damian of Oliveri Landscape Design & Construction, is blessed with that same soft crop. The little curls are reminiscent of the pittosporum golf ball topiary she stands proudly beside, while the dark tone of her coat offers gorgeous contrast against the white lime-rendered walls.

02
Cici the black Bombay Burmese cat
Blending in with black furniture
Give this photo a quick glance and you could completely miss Cici, who blends in with her surroundings to spectacular effect. Founder of Moss Interiors, Jacquie Pask lives in this heritage home and has renovated the kitchen three times. Her pet cat Cici perfectly complements the scheme, with lashings of green and black contrasted against white walls and a white benchtop. A large artwork by Bridget Meldrum ties all these hues together. When perched on the Enrico Pellizzoni ‘Pasqualina’ dining chairs, Cici is perfectly camouflaged.

03
Maple the Cavoodle
Complementing the cosy honey hues
When Tracey Leeson, co-founder of Porch Light Interiors, and her husband Darren bought a block of land in Brisbane, they had the opportunity to create a home from the ground up. This meant tailoring the interior scheme exactly to their tastes… and their pet dog, Maple? The Cavoodle has a fluffy coat as syrupy as her name suggests. She certainly matches the honey hues found throughout the Spanish Mission-style home, especially the L-shaped sofa in a Westbury Textiles linen. Whether coincidence or by design, the result is oh so sweet.

04
A gaggle of geese
A white on white scheme gets some help from feathered friends
A farmhouse wouldn’t be complete without a flock of feathered friends. And in this Hamptons-style country abode, the geese actually came before the home. “The geese have been with us a long time,” says homeowner Samantha, who is also the founder and designer of Beautiful House. It’s not just that these pets match their rural home – their white feathers also look pristine beside the white weatherboard exterior and white accents of the front gable roofs.

05
Daisy the Cavoodle
A pet perfectly aligned with a classic Hamptons colour scheme
This stunning home is the work of owners Janette and Alex Stritt, who are also an interior designer and builder, respectively. Founders of Stritt Design and Construction, they created a home filled with quintessential Hamptons style and it was even later used as a key filming location in the 2025 horror reboot, I Know What You Did Last Summer. But most importantly perhaps, this is the home of Daisy the Cavoodle. With a fluffy cream coloured coat and a blue collar, she fits in with the classic Hamptons interiors. Her fur matches the neutral Coco Republic sofas in the living area while the blue of her collar mirrors the cool hues of the striped Braddock ottomans from Cromwell, Dash & Albert rug from Winton House, and the cushions that decorate each sofa.

06
A flock of chickens
A clucky addition to classic country style
Birds of a feather stick together and that’s certainly the case with this friendly flock. Builder and content creator Alicia of @oldcottageroad wanted a “Provincial farmhouse” style for her home, something that felt “more cottage and less coastal”. The generous verandah, gumboots at the front door and vertical timber cladding of the exterior enhance this country appeal. But the finishing touch is the family’s pet chickens. Strutting near the home’s entrance, these clucky ladies are a cute, country welcoming party.

07
Coco the tabby cat
At once rustic and refined
The exterior of this home has already made the list, thanks to a gaggle of geese that complement the white on white scheme. But Coco the tabby cat manages to suit the interiors, too. Designed by homeowner Samantha, of Beautiful House, the home has a Hamptons aesthetic that feels grand and ornate. But country style sneaks in, grounding the home with texture and organic materials. A tabby cat is perfectly placed at these crossroads, with swirls of browns to match the woven basket on this hallway table, and paws that look as if they’re covered in little white socks, to suit the bright white walls and decor.

08
Hugo and Summer the Groodles
Beautiful brown tones abound
This Queensland worker’s cottage is home to Ebony Patman, an interior designer, partner Eric Hipwood, Brisbane Lions AFL player, and their two pet Groodles, Hugo and Summer. The home was designed with the latter two especially in mind. The laundry has a sizable dog bathing tub, featuring delightful tiles in a delicate shade of pink. But it’s the outdoor entertaining area, in particular the alfresco dining zone, that perfectly complements the brown shades of these pets. Hugo (left) has a light toned fur that complements the Eco Outdoor ‘Scala’ paving while Summer (right) is a warm brown shade that more closely matches the outdoor dining setting, also from Eco Outdoor.

09
Mate the Blue Heeler
A working dog fit for a worker’s cottage
Like many Sydneysiders, TV journalist and Sunrise presenter Edwina Bartholomew and Neil Varcoe, a writer, dreamt of having a place in the country. That wish came true with this 1890s sanstone shearer’s cottage. The couple own Scottish Highland cattle on their 42-hectare property, perfect for their Blue Heeler (another name for an Australian cattle dog). This pup, named Mate, looks right at home in the rural setting. The lighter brown patches of his fur even match the lighter hues of the sandstone exterior.

10
Smokey the cat
Cool undertones that suit an inky island profile
Built in the 1890s, this home received a colourful yet sensitive renovation with interior designer Jessica Viscarde of Eclectic Creative at the helm. Crisp whites form a neutral base throughout the home, with pops of colour layered in furniture, artwork and decorative items. In the kitchen, the island bench is finished in Polytec Adriatic, an inky counterpoint to the cabinetry in Polytec Gossamer White. The deep tone complements Smokey the cat, whose name reveals the colour of her fur. Besides, what could be more fitting in a dignified heritage home than a serious and stately (perhaps even sassy) cat?

11
Matilda the Border Collie
Putting a paw on the monochromatic scheme
Border Collies are a working dog breed so its no wonder that this pet, named Matilda, looks so at home in her country abode. Home owner and pet owner Leanne had a book filled with inspirational photos of charming farmhouses and classic country kitchens before this farmhouse-style home in the Gold Coast Hinterland came into her life. With a black and white coat, Matilda is perfectly framed by the monochromatic colour scheme of this entrance. Dulux Mt Eden coats the door, with timber cladding in a crisp white on the walls surrounding.

12
Lilli the miniature Labradoodle
Light, bright and oh so fluffy
This light, bright Hamptons abode was a dream come true for homeowners Kirstie and John. Built and designed by Cape Cod, the home features a classic coastal palette of cool blue, deep navy and fresh white. The scheme is even carried through to the alfresco living area, where miniature Labradoodle Lilli is pictured. She complements the white frames of the alfresco sofa and armchair from Decor Etc (bought through Coral Coast Living). She’s so fluffy you could be forgiven for mistaking her for a tactile throw.

13
Dougal the Jackshund and Cici the black cat
Light and dark shades combine in one cute pup
Cici has already appeared on this list but she’s snuck in again, trying to steal the limelight from her brother, Dougal the Jackshund. The work of homeowner (and pet owner) Jacquie Pask, founder of Moss Interiors, this kitchen and dining area almost looks like it was made for the duo. The lighter sections of Dougal’s fur match the light timber flooring, while the dark patches along his back complement the black accents. Besides, a Jackshund just feels right in a heritage home, perhaps due to the Jack Russell terrier lineage (a breed that was trained to hunt foxes for sport in the same century this house was built).

14
Boots the cat and West Highland Terriers Maisie and Poppy
East Coast style mixes with West Highland pups
Hamptons-inspired interiors stole homeowner Sonia’s heart. So when it came time to renovate her home, she asked Studio Belle for a luxurious approach to the beloved style. The result also perfectly suits her pets, Maisie (left) and Poppy (right), pictured here with Sonia, daughter Isabella and their pet cat Boots. Boots has a black and white coat that suits the light and dark extremes of the white walls and dark timber flooring while white West Highland Terriers Maisie and Poppy look perfectly placed beside the Oly ‘Pipa’ coffee table from Coco Republic.

15
Bowser the Cavoodle
A relaxed, beachy boatshed to suit a sandy hued pooch
This boatshed, once dilapidated, is now a sparkling scene stealer at this waterfront property, thanks to the work of interior designer Jodie Carter. The existing timber decking has been left to silver off with age, pairing beautifully with Dulux Colorbond Deep Ocean. This gorgeous blue paint reflects the hues of the water that laps beyond the boatshed. Another brilliant pairing? The owner’s sandy-toned pet dog, Bowser. Her fluffy coat has a relaxed feel that perfectly fits with the coastal vibe of the boatshed, in a light shade that matches the honey hues of the internal timber flooring.

16
Mala the Cocker Spaniel
Monochromatic Mala is totally twinning with these tonal extremes
This 1950s cottage got a serious style transformation thanks to homeowner and interior designer, Sarah Yarrow. Black and white are a tonal motif throughout the home, especially in the exterior. Dulux Mt Aspiring and a black roof in Dulux Monument set the tone but who perfects it? Mala the Cocker Spaniel, of course. Her deep, dark coat is shiny, glossy and oh-so black, complementing the dark architectural accents of the facade.
