The new renovation series has arrived.

Channel Seven’s new renovation series, My Reno Rules, has arrived on our screens. The series follows four teams of two, as they renovate two side-by-side houses in Melbourne for a cash prize.

Hosted by Dr Chris Brown, with judges Neale Whitaker, Julia Green and Simon Cohen, the program is perhaps set apart from other renovation shows with it’s giveaway premise.

“We’re not going to auction them away,” billionaire backer Adrian Portelli said in the series’ first promo. “We’re actually going to give them away to two Australian families.”

So, who’s tasked with transforming the two homes? Keep reading to find out.

Meet the My Reno Rules teams

Nathan and Julia

Nathan and Julia are the parents of three young daughters. The couple are based in Victoria, where Nathan works as an electrician and Julia is a stay-at-home mum.

The couple will be transforming House One, alongside Emma and Michelle. “Nathan and I are here to win, but we’re not going to be those cutthroat people who sacrifice everything to get ahead,” Julia says. “We can be tough competitors without losing our moral compass.”

Emma and Michelle

Michelle and Emma are a mother-and-daughter team from Queensland, where Emma runs an interior design, property development and creative studio and Michelle works in hair and beauty. The pair, who describe themselves as “Maltese Terriers,” are planning to use their existing skills to their advantage in the competition.

“I complete tasks quickly and I’m used to meeting deadlines. I also have a good eye for design,” Michelle said. “As a team, our biggest strength is our hard work, balance, and determination, Mum and I aren’t afraid to get on the tools or get our hands dirty!”

Michelle and Emma will be taking on House One with Nathan and Julia.

Franky and Isaac

Melbourne-based best mates, Franky and Isaac, are describing themselves as the underdogs of the competition. While the pair don’t have a lot of renovation experience, they have already spent years working together in Franky’s AV business. While Isaac has since left to become a junior foreman, their work dynamic is sure to benefit the mates in the competition.

“We are fantastic at reading each other, which can be very beneficial in stressful times,” Isaac said.

“Isaac and I will always check in on one another, morning, noon and night,” Franky added. “If we are struggling in certain areas, we’ll pick up the slack for one another.”

The best friends will be taking on House Two with Mitch and Shaz.

Mitch and Shaz

Queensland-based Mitch and Shaz are parents and newlyweds from Queensland. The couple, who have a 13-year-old son, each bring their own unique skills to the competition, with Mitch being a landscape project manager, and Shaz running her own interior design business.

The couple describes their interior design style as classic contemporary.

“I love antiques, but I also appreciate modern clean lines. For me, it’s more about a feeling. I love spaces that feel fresh yet nostalgic, giving people something to talk about,” Shaz said. Mitch and Shaz will be taking on House Two with Franky and Isaac.
