Say what you like about Kim and Kanye, but their home in California is a minimalist’s dream. Recently revealed online via an intimate visit from Vogue, Kim gave her hungry audience a  tour through the home designed by Kanye in collaboration with Axel Vervoordt and architect Claudio Silvestrin.

With over 2.7 million views of the Hidden Hills home tour on Vogue’s Instagram feed alone, the 73 questions film has created a storm in a hand-poured bathtub since, with people lacking in understanding of the custom-made vanity sinks and how they work.

“Since everyone is a little confused about our sinks I thought I would show you guys a little tour of the bathroom,” says Kim Kardashian West, taking to social media and sharing more detail on her Instagram stories, first offering a sweeping look around the enormous space, to reveal that the entire ceiling is a lightbox, the custom bathtub, “fits all of our kids”, and a large patio outside features lush greenery viewed through a bank of floor-to-ceiling glass windows.

On closer inspection of the pair of shallow basins – which barely register as sinks from a distance – they are actually a rather inspired design. Sitting atop a colossal freestanding vanity unit designed by Kanye, and suggested by Silvestrin to come away from the walls, the sinks are merely a slight dip in the surface of a vast bank of generous storage drawers.

Kim says there were eight versions of prototype made to get the vanity just right. Framed by sleek matte black tapware the organic, ultra-modern design has an almost-flat surface sloping gently down to allow water to drain through a slit at the base, “without any backsplash, even under high pressure,” says Kim.

Nice.

So, whilst we think keeping up with the Kardashians in terms of their real estate portfolio might not be entirely possible, this elegant design is in keeping with the spare aesthetic of the entire home and demonstrates Kanye’s austere interior view that budding minimalists can certainly take on board.
