Only a 20-minute boat ride from the north shore of Fiji’s Viti Levu, surrounded by crystal-clear waters and nestled between Nananu-i-Cake and Nananu-i-Ra Island, lies a little piece of heaven – stunning Dolphin Island.
Dolphin Island by Huka Retreats is not your typical tourist hot spot; in fact, it’s more a private sanctuary celebrating relaxation, peace and quiet.
The 5.66-hectare island operates on an exclusive-use basis, fits up to eight people, and is a popular spot for honeymooners, families or those seeking the most intimate of weddings.
Huka Retreats consulted New Zealand-born interior designer, Virginia Fisher to create a haven of relaxation and comfort while celebrating Pacific style – and the result is stunning. The four beautifully appointed ‘bure’ suites perfectly reflect island life with timber floors, stone tiles, wooden shutters and high ceilings. Even the ensuites encapsulate the tropical surrounding. Guests can relax among shell and coral décor in a freestanding bath or refresh in one of the indoor or outdoor showers.
And those who want to take romance to an even higher level can move into the Hilltop Sleep-out Bure – a thatched open-air bedroom. Here, you won’t find any electricity, it’s all about candle light and lanterns.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are an intimate, tailored affair, with staff tending to guests’ every need. All meals are made from fresh local produce and can be consumed in the utterly stunning Main Bure Pavilion, which features a freshwater infinity pool, or al fresco anywhere on the property.
