Your wish is about to be granted!

Sure flatpack is easier to build than making something from scratch, but if the joy of shopping at IKEA is dulled by having to build it yourself, your life is about to get a whole lot easier.

Whilst we think of IKEA as the masters of self-service, since making their shopping experience available online, the Swedish homewares giant continue to streamline the process of getting the goods into our homes and pressing them straight into service with a minimum of hassle.

In teaming up with Airtasker, IKEA are channeling a growing community of trusted local doers to assemble your flatpacks for you in your home, extending the local services available through their online shopping platform.

According to Airtasker, assembling furniture already makes up 15% of the tasks outsourced to their workforce so the arrangement formalises the offering, with IKEA ensuring you get the right Airtaskers for the job, verifying an army of experienced IKEA assemblers with ABNs, Police checks, minimum 80% rate of completed tasks and minimum 4-star service rating. Booking and pricing works the same as for any Airtasker task, via their website.

“In working with Airtasker we’re giving customers more choice when it comes to how they assemble their furniture,” says IKEA Customer Experience Manger Cass Hall. “Many of our customers will continue to do-it themselves, but we are seeing an increase in take-up of services that make the shopping experience quicker and easier. Verified IKEA Airtaskers will give customers confidence when using this service,” Mr Hall said.

The program was successfully piloted in Sydney’s Tempe IKEA store and will be rolled out nationally by mid-2018. Go to Airtasker for more information.
