It’s about time our pets got in on the IKEA action. The launch of the LURVIG (meaning ‘shaggy’ in Swedish) range of homewares for pets is an exciting addition to the much loved store’s offering – as if we need another excuse to go shopping at IKEA!
With thoughtful design and clever styling, items range in price from as little as $1.99US (AU$2.60) for a simple feed bowl (less for toys and tags) up to US$49.99 (AU$64.80) for the cat/dog bed that looks like a kid’s sofa. It’s all very affordable and, we have to say, kind of groovy. A basic black/white/green colour palette across the range means they go with each other and blend into the home, whilst a handsome collection of collars and leashes may well be IKEA’s first foray into fashion…
The range covers an impressive 41 products for dogs and 34 products for cats, with many interchangeable such as beds and feeding bowls, so your pampered pooch and/or pussy will be well pleased to share news of their new digs over the back fence.
Coming from the designers responsible for homewares many of us already have in our homes, it makes perfect sense to extend the trend to those for our fur babies. Some pieces are designed to fit into exisiting IKEA products, such as the LURVIG cat house – made to slide easily into the KALLAX bookshelf so that, once bedded down, your cat can literally become part of the furniture!
We’re sorry to say the LURVIG range for pets is not yet available in Australia but our doggy breath is bated and our paws are crossed in the hopes it’ll hit antipodean shores before long.
