Outdoor space
Claire and Hagan took on the challenge of creating an engaging kids’ play area, with Fil and Joe adopting the social space alongside. Luke and Cody designed a tranquil relaxing area, located just out of sight. Here in the kids’ zone, synthetic turf proved a practical, low-maintenance choice. A huge swing will provide lots of entertainment.
Chess game
Sourcing the oversized chess pieces was a challenge for Hagan, but worth it when you see the end result. The judges loved that the game could be enjoyed by both adults and children alike, encouraging interaction and fun. The giant chess board was completed using pavers from Boral.
Climbing wall
The only way is up! Claire and Hagan brought even more fun into their zone with a climbing wall – with a sand pit below for added safety.
Social space
Fil and Joe chose two small tables that each seat four for their zone, with the idea that multiple families might use the area at the same time. The decorative screen was found at QAQ.
Barbecue area
A Weber barbecue is a quality addition to this social area. The judges both felt that Fil and Joe could have created a more convenient space for the barbecue to sit within.
Tranquil space
Twins Luke and Cody’s brief was to create a tranquil and relaxing space. They delivered in spades, with a private sanctuary decorated with comfortable furniture and a practical pergola. It was a perfect place to retreat to and enjoy being outdoor, adding real value to the wonderful families who will be using these apartments.
Tranquil garden
Lushly planted garden beds lining either side a gently winding path complete the atmosphere of instant relaxation.
Tranquil area
The twins designed the pergola as a quiet space to sit, and made the birdhouses themselves. The deep, comfortable chairs are cosy and welcoming.
Swing chair
The swing chair is from Four Seasons Nursery & Garden Centre, and provides another private spot where the families can relax. The natural rock wall and vintage country water feature both make the tranquil garden feel established – a true home away from home.
The teams also completed three amazing makeovers in the adjoining apartments, taking as their inspiration Scandi chic, a cool Manhattan vibe and Balinese-resort style. Click the links to see the results!
