DIY For A Job Well Done

Everything you need to know

If you’re planning on renovating, and especially if you’re going to do it yourself, at some stage you’ll need to make some decisions about plasterboard: cornices, ceilings, walls, decorative panelling, the list goes on. It may sound daunting, but don’t stress because we’ve done some research for you. Here’s our rundown on the USG Boral range of plasterboard, plastering products and tools you’ll need for a job well done.

Can I really do plasterboard myself?

With the right products, tools and advice you can do your own plasterboard interior room renovations and repairs to bathrooms, living rooms, sound sensitive areas such as studios, study and bedrooms or your entire home.

Where do I start?

Get inspired and plan your project. For bigger renovations, decide on the look you want, and form a clear picture of your design style. Make a mood board or scrapbook where you can keep pages from home magazines with looks you love, and watch renovating shows such as Seven’s House Rules to see how the participants get their projects done. For smaller jobs like repairs, take the time to learn what you need to do and get yourself set up.

The USG Boral DIY range of products and tools is supported by a set of six useful DIY videos to help guide you through your plasterboard DIY projects – including what products to use and how – to ensure you’re really pleased with the final result.

Living room

A living room should live up to its name. As the heart of the home, it’s where you spend the most time, so it should be functional as well as comfortable. And as life goes on in here, energetic kids, loud movies and games can be hard on both the walls and the ears! Upgrade your plasterboard walls to resist impact and improve acoustic isolation within your home with Multistop™ and SoundStop™ plasterboards. Improve the sound performance of your home cinema, lower the ruckus from the kids’ bedrooms and create quieter areas for the study and master bedroom with renovating plasterboard solutions from USG Boral.
