A grand Brighton farmhouse retreat

A marble-framed fireplace anchors the space, blending warmth with clever design details

In the beautiful beachside suburb of Brighton in Adelaide, this grand American Farmhouse-style home has been thoughtfully extended and renovated with the help of Alisa & Lysandra Interiors. At the heart sits an Escea gas fireplace, framed by Polar Ice marble from CDK Stone and paired with a timber mantel and Bodega Freeform wall cladding. As a result, the space feels both refined and inviting. “I love the thoughtful detail in the fireplace mantel to hide our sound system and wires,” says homeowner Jill Kirkwood.

Light stone fireplaces don’t always need to be the go-to either. Darker, natural stone fireplaces can be seen in Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula 1970s coastal home draws inspiration from classic classic English interiors. As part of the redesign, interior designer Amy Spargo created both summer and winter living zones. In the winter room, crisp white walls and layered textiles soften the darker stone fireplace, creating balance and warmth. Meanwhile, the summer living room embraces natural light and a breezier feel.
