For surfing legend Taj Burrow and model and entrepreneur Rebecca Jobson, home has long been tied to the ocean and the rugged beauty of Western Australia’s coastline. Now, that’s not so certain as the couple are believed to be going their separate ways after seven years together, following Rebecca’s recent switch back to her maiden name on social media.
Before making a significant sea change to Western Australia to be with Taj, Rebecca was based in Sydney’s Bondi, where she worked extensively as a model. The move meant a major shift for her, personally and professionally.

“I did a complete sea change to move from a hectic life modelling and based in Bondi, Sydney to a quiet town in WA where my partner resides,” she told Beauticate. “With that big move meant a very decreased amount of modelling job opportunities. It gave me an excuse to take a couple of months off for myself to settle in and really decide what I wanted to do and where my passions would take me.”
Taj retired from professional surfing in 2016 and has since pursued a range of media and business ventures. The couple welcomed two children since they wed in 2019, and Rebecca founded childrenswear label Mini Marley, a brand she closed in 2023 to focus on family life. She’s just launched a new brand, slow-fashion label Moda Mittsu, with two friends.

Rebecca has previously appeared in a photo shoot at the couple’s striking Western Australian property, ‘The Nautilus’. Custom-designed and set high on Yallingup Hill, the luxury residence takes in sweeping ocean views across some of the region’s most famous surf breaks. The multi-level modern home follows the landscape, with expansive glazing, generous entertaining spaces and a dramatic, sculptural pool.

The family no longer live at ‘The Nautilus’, though Taj and Rebecca continue to own the property, which is now available as a high-end Airbnb stay. With reports of their separation emerging in January 2026, questions now sit around the future of the home – whether it will remain a shared asset or find new owners as the couple enters a new chapter.
