Hailey and Justin Bieber have added a spectacular New York apartment to their growing property portfolio, paying $US12 million (approximately $17.9 million) for a four-bedroom home in Manhattan’s sought-after West Village. Spanning approximately 260 square metres, Hailey and Justin Bieber’s New York home occupies a coveted position inside 160 Leroy Street, an architecturally significant residential building overlooking the Hudson River.

But this is no ordinary celebrity apartment.

Designed by Pritzker Prize-winning Swiss architecture firm Herzog & de Meuron in collaboration with legendary hotelier and Studio 54 co-founder Ian Schrager, the building is known for its striking curved façade, luxurious amenities and, perhaps most importantly for its famous residents, privacy.

According to reports, the Biebers purchased the apartment from real estate developer Steven Brauser, who bought the property for $US10.5 million in 2018.

Floor-to-ceiling windows and an extraordinary curved exterior wall stretching more than 36 metres are among the apartment’s most impressive features. The home has four bedrooms and four-and-a-half bathrooms, with expansive living spaces overlooking the Hudson River and Statue of Liberty.

Pale Scandinavian larch timber runs throughout the interiors, from the wide-plank flooring to the kitchen cabinetry, creating a warm and surprisingly understated backdrop to the home.

At the heart of the apartment is a light-filled open-plan living and dining area, where curved walls of glass frame the city and river beyond. Despite its multimillion-dollar price tag and celebrity owners, the interiors embrace a restrained material palette rather than overt opulence. Natural timber, glass and neutral finishes allow the architecture, and those extraordinary views, to take centre stage.

We love…the incredible curved windows

Stretching along the apartment’s exterior, the floor-to-ceiling glass floods the interiors with natural light while capturing sweeping views across the Hudson River. It’s a beautiful example of architecture becoming the hero of a home.

A kitchen designed for entertaining

The apartment’s kitchen continues the home’s minimalist aesthetic, with sleek timber cabinetry and a large island overlooking the open-plan living spaces.

High-end appliances from brands including Sub-Zero, Wolf, Gaggenau and Miele are integrated into the streamlined design. There’s also something rarely found in even the most luxurious New York apartments: a separate chef’s kitchen. The additional kitchen allows food preparation and entertaining to take place away from the main living areas — a practical luxury that makes sense for a couple accustomed to hosting family, friends and high-profile guests.

The primary bedroom suite takes full advantage of the apartment’s waterfront position. Large windows capture views across the Hudson River, while the adjoining bathroom features a deep soaking tub and double vanity. An additional room beside the primary bedroom can be used as a private sitting room, office or dressing room. The apartment’s remaining bedrooms are positioned on the opposite side of the home, creating separation between the primary retreat and family or guest accommodation.

For Hailey and Justin, who welcomed their son Jack Blues Bieber in August 2024, the generous four-bedroom floor plan offers significantly more space than the average Manhattan apartment.

The architectural story behind 160 Leroy Street

The Biebers’ new address is almost as interesting as the apartment itself. Completed in 2017, 160 Leroy Street was created by Herzog & de Meuron and Ian Schrager, whose influence on modern hospitality and design stretches back decades. Schrager famously co-founded New York nightclub Studio 54 before becoming one of the world’s most influential boutique hoteliers.

The 14-storey building’s distinctive undulating concrete-and-glass façade was reportedly inspired by the work of celebrated Brazilian modernist architect Oscar Niemeyer.

Rather than the rigid lines traditionally associated with Manhattan apartment buildings, 160 Leroy Street embraces curves.

Those sweeping lines continue throughout its residences, creating unusually fluid interiors and allowing expansive windows to capture views of the Hudson River. “Everybody wants a view, everybody wants light, everybody wants air,” Schrager previously said of the philosophy behind the building.

Privacy is the ultimate New York luxury

For two of the most recognisable celebrities in the world, the building offers another valuable feature: discretion. A private porte-cochère allows residents to arrive and leave away from the street, while a landscaped internal courtyard creates a sense of separation from the city outside.

Local real estate agents have reportedly identified the building’s privacy as one of its biggest attractions for high-profile buyers. Residents also have access to a 70-foot swimming pool, fitness centre, yoga and Pilates studios, spa facilities, children’s playroom and catering kitchen.

The building has attracted a number of wealthy and high-profile residents over the years, including Fanatics founder and CEO Michael Rubin, who reportedly owns a penthouse in the building worth approximately $US43 million.

Why celebrities love New York’s West Village

The Biebers are hardly the first celebrities to fall for the West Village.

With its tree-lined streets, historic townhouses, intimate restaurants and relative separation from Manhattan’s towering business districts, the neighbourhood has long attracted actors, musicians and designers.

Sarah Jessica Parker, Matthew Broderick, Ben Stiller and Daniel Radcliffe are among the stars who have owned property in the area, while Taylor Swift famously rented a West Village townhouse while renovating her Tribeca home. Despite its celebrity appeal, the neighbourhood has retained much of its historic character. Unlike Manhattan’s carefully planned street grid, the West Village is known for its winding streets, hidden courtyards and 19th-century architecture.

For Hailey and Justin, the purchase marks their first known shared property in New York City and gives the family an East Coast base to complement their substantial collection of homes elsewhere.

Hailey and Justin Bieber’s impressive real estate portfolio

Property has long played a significant role in Justin Bieber’s life. After rising to global fame as a teenager, the Canadian singer became known for renting, and later buying, some of California’s most extraordinary homes.

In 2012, Justin reportedly paid $US6.5 million for a sprawling Spanish-style mansion in the exclusive Calabasas community of The Oaks. Years later, following his marriage to Hailey, the couple purchased a 1930s Monterey Colonial home in Beverly Hills for $US8.5 million.

Known as The Tropics, the five-bedroom property was extensively renovated before the Biebers purchased it in 2019. The couple later sold the home furnished for just under $US8 million. Their next Beverly Hills purchase was considerably grander. In 2020, Hailey and Justin reportedly paid $US25.8 million for a mansion in the ultra-exclusive Beverly Park community.

Set behind gates on more than two acres, the sprawling estate features seven bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, an infinity pool, tennis court and home theatre. The couple also own a home in La Quinta, California, and an expansive lakeside property in Justin’s native Ontario, Canada. Their new Manhattan apartment adds an entirely different style of property to the collection.

Who lives here?

Hailey and Justin Bieber are one of the world’s most recognisable celebrity couples. Canadian singer Justin rose to fame as a teenager after being discovered on YouTube and has since become one of the bestselling music artists of his generation. Hailey, the daughter of actor Stephen Baldwin, is a model and the founder of beauty brand Rhode, which was acquired by e.l.f. Beauty in a deal valued at up to $US1 billion in 2025. The couple married in 2018 and welcomed their first child, son Jack Blues Bieber, in August 2024.

A new chapter for the Bieber family

The New York purchase comes during a significant period in the couple’s lives. Since becoming parents, Hailey and Justin have largely kept their son away from the public eye while occasionally sharing glimpses of family life on social media.

Meanwhile, both have reached major career milestones. Hailey’s beauty company Rhode was acquired by e.l.f. Beauty in a blockbuster deal valued at up to $US1 billion, while Justin has continued releasing music and performing to audiences around the world.

Their newest home appears to reflect this next chapter. With four bedrooms, extensive privacy, a children’s playroom downstairs and some of Manhattan’s most beautiful views outside the windows, Hailey and Justin Bieber’s New York home combines serious design credentials with something even multimillion-dollar properties don’t always achieve: the feeling of a family home.
