How to use a Koala discount code

It’s fast and simple to add a Koala discount code to your order, and here I’ve included a step-by-step approach that also has insights specific to shopping with Koala.

  • Browse Home Beautiful’s edit of Koala offers and click on one to get the code or offer details (some don’t require a code).
  • Click on the new tab in your browser, which we’ve opened to take you straight to the Koala website.
  • Add the desired items to your cart, along with any required choices for size, fabric, configuration or anything else.
  • To add the code in your cart summary, click on the cart icon and you’ll find a section titled ‘Discount code’ just before the cart total. Click on ‘Add’, enter the code in the field that appears and click ‘Apply’ to update the total before going to the checkout.
  • To add the code at checkout, click on ‘Order summary’ to expand your order, then enter the code in the field and click on the arrow to apply it.

If you’re clicking through from a deal without a code there is nothing else for you to do – your savings will automatically be applied to your cart. But if you do have a code, here I’ve included two screenshots to show how it looks when you add the code to cart or at checkout on a mobile device.

Top Koala discount code questions, answered by our team

Whether you’re new to Koala or are back for more, we’ve gathered the most common questions to make your savings journey smooth and simple.

How can I get a discount on my first order with Koala?

The easiest way is to sign up for the Koala mailing list, which gives you 10% off your first order. You can sign up from a product page by clicking ‘Sign up to get 10% off’ (I’ve only seen this when the product is full price), or ‘Sign up & Save’ from the right side of the screen on desktop or mobile. You may also get a pop-up offer when you visit the Koala site.

Another way to save on your first order is by asking a friend to share their Koala referral link with you. This gives you $200 off your first order, and they will get a $100 Prezzee e-gift card if you keep your items past the 120-day trial period.

Does Koala have a promo code for free shipping?

You may not need a code at all because Koala offers free shipping on all mattresses, as well as linen, bedding and small items for metro customers. And any order to metro Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane, Perth that includes a mattress will get free standard delivery. If there’s a free shipping promo, you’ll also find it here.

Can I use a Koala discount code on sale items?

Generally, Koala promo codes don’t combine with items already on sale or discounted (including bundles). However, during big sale events like Black Friday or Christmas, there can be exceptions – you’ll find details here when that’s the case.

Can I stack Koala discount codes?

Unfortunately, no. Like most online stores, Koala only lets you add one discount code per order. So if you’re fortunate enough to have more than one active code, consider using the one that expires first, or the one that offers the biggest savings.

Does Koala have a student discount?

Yes! Koala offers a 10% student discount via UNiDAYS. So you need to create a free account with UNiDAYS and verify your student status to get the discount.

Our top tips to save and get more value with Koala

One of my favourite things about shopping online is that there’s almost always a way to save wor add value to an order, and Koala is a great example. After going through the Koala website from top to bottom (many times), here are my insights on some of the easiest ways to save.

  • Sign up for the newsletter: Koala offers a 10% discount on your first order after signing up to the newsletter. You’ll get a welcome email that has a link to shop, with the discount automatically applied at the checkout.
  • Bundle to save: Koala bedroom and living room bundles offer discounts compared to buying items separately. I recently saw bundle discounts of up to 25% during a sale, and previously up to 10% off, so it’s worth checking.
  • Check the clearance section: There were discounts of between 20-30% when I last checked Koala’s clearance section, and previously I’ve seen discounts up to 50% on sofa beds, cushions and more.
  • Wait for seasonal sales: Koala often has big sales around Easter, Black Friday, Afterpay Day and Boxing Day. These are prime times for bigger discounts. For example, during Afterpay Day in August 2026, Koala offered up to 25% off select items sitewide.
  • Refer a friend: Your referred friend will get a $200 discount on their first order, and you get a $100 Prezzee eGift card after they’ve kept their purchase beyond the 120-day trial period. Keep in mind that Prezzee eGift cards can be used at retailers including Myer, David Jones, The Good Guys, Temple & Webster and Jo Malone, but not directly with Koala.
  • Trade program: If you’re an interior designer or stylist (or are working with one), Koala offers exclusive trade pricing and services that can add further value to your interiors and projects.

Editor’s tip to save on Koala in Sydney or Perth

If you’re in Sydney, check out the Koala Second Home store, where customers can buy refurbished Koala products that are in near-new condition after being returned. This is another way to save on the price of buying Koala brand new, and great for those who prioritise sustainability. The store is located at 1 Kellicar Rd, Campbelltown.

There’s also a similar Koala Outlet available online for people in Perth.

More Koala FAQs

Buying mattresses and furniture online can raise a lot of questions – and I know all too well how long it can take to find all the answers. So here, I’ve put the key details for Koala in one place to make it easy when you’re shopping.

How long does Koala delivery take?

Metro deliveries are usually made on the same day if you order before 3pm on weekdays. If you’re in a regional or rural area, delivery typically takes 10-15 business days, and is faster the closer you are to a capital city.

How much is delivery?

In metro areas, furniture items like sofas, sidetables and rugs have fees from $35 to $95. There’s also a $70 fee for Saturday delivery when it’s available. If you’re in a regional or remote area, delivery fees are calculated and shown at the checkout. To give you an idea, I checked delivery for a Tamarama modular sofa (standard two-section model) to addresses in Newcastle, Wollongong, Surfers Paradise and Ballarat and was quoted a delivery fee of $89.

What is the Koala 120-night trial?

Koala offer a generous 120 days trial on mattresses, sofa beds, sofas, bed bases, outdoor furniture, coffee and side tables and smaller items like pillows. This gives you time to try out the pieces, and if you’re not 100% satisfied during this time, you can return it for a full refund (minus any return delivery fees for areas outside metro Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Canberra or Perth).

Do Koala mattresses and furniture come with a warranty?

Yes, Koala offers a 10-year warranty for mattresses and a 5-year warranty for furniture. You also get a 1-year warranty on homewares and bedding, and a 1-year warranty on any electrical parts.

I’ve spent years analysing warranty terms and conditions in my work as a personal finance journalist, and one important thing to note about these Koala warranties is that they don’t cover general wear and tear. In fact, the warranties note that this includes minor pilling, puddling and “natural softening of the product”.

For mattresses, Ialso think it’s worth noting the warranty won’t cover damage caused by another brand’s bed base. So if you were using your own bed base with a Koala mattress and wanted to make a warranty claim, Koala would need to factor that into the assessment. Some other bed brands I’ve covered actually have specifications for third-party frames – Koala doesn’t but you could contact them to ask about it if you want to be covered.

Is the Koala Timber Bed Base discontinued?

Yes, the original, award-winning Timber Bed Base has been discontinued for several years as Koala has continued to innovate and design new options. This includes the wooden Balmain Bed Base – which you can get with or without a wooden bed head – and the Kirribilli Bed Base. The Paddington Bed Base, which has a fabric bed head, also won a Good Design Award, and all three of these bed bases offer sturdy wooden bases and support for the mattress – similar to the original Timber Bed Base.

The Koala mattresses and furniture Home Beautiful loves

As well as writing about Koala, the Home Beautiful team have tried and bought pieces from their range. In fact, Editor in Chief Elle Lovelock described the Joey mattress as “essential for kids beds” when I asked her.

“I bought the Joey mattress for my son when he was ready to move to a ‘big boys bed’. I love that it’s made for kids. He loves that it’s a bit thinner than a regular mattress so he can actually climb up onto the bed himself! The other thing that’s great is you can unzip and wash the protective cover, so it gives an extra layer of protection. Essential for kids beds!”

Elle Lovelock, Home Beautiful Editor in Chief

Home Beautiful contributor Rebecca Mitchell – who brings an experienced eye to home and lifestyle media – also praised the buying experience and design of her Koala bed base.

“I have the Koala Balmain bed base and it is perfect,” she told me.

What stands out to me about Koala (beyond a great discount code)

As Deals Editor, it’s my job to find and share insights and tips on ways to get more value, and I take that very seriously – bringing 17 years of experience in personal finance and lifestyle journalism to the table. Over the past few years, I’ve featured Koala products in articles related to sofas, sofa beds, mattresses, smart beds and other furniture and homewares for Home Beautiful, Better Homes & Gardens, Australian House & Garden, ELLE, Woman’s Day and other publications. I’ve also watched the assembly instructions for most of the bed bases, sofas and sofa beds, and extensively studied the materials and designs as part of my research (both for work and as I gradually update the larger pieces of furniture in my home).

One thing that stands out to me is the level of detail and consideration in each design – including the recent Pantone collaboration.

“We wanted to create a versatile, grounding shade of green that would tell an unmistakably Australian story, yet feel globally resonant. A collection that felt equally at home in contemporary interiors and relaxed coastal spaces,” said Alexandra Owen, Global Design Director at Koala.

When I asked her if she had a current favourite Koala piece, she also drew inspiration from this collection.

For me, it’s the Pantone Wanda Sofa Bed, not only is it our most supportive sofa bed but its generous hidden storage is a complete game changer and it’s so comfortable. I love watching the shade change throughout the day – it appears lighter and more airy in natural light and deepens into something warmer and more enveloping as the sun sets. It adds colour without taking over the room.

Alexandra Owen, Koala Global Design Director

This brings me to another point: While a discount code is great for saving dollars on your purchase, the design details bring value beyond the purchase. That’s something that can pay off for years to come (and all the better if you also get a discount at the start).
